Summer begins with Greek, Japanese, Latino, strawberry, car, unicorn, and donkey festivals, plus the home debut of the Rocky Mountain Vibes.

COLORADO, USA — From festivals and fairs to expos and runs, there's lots to do, see and explore in Colorado this first weekend of summer. Denver has two major festivals this weekend in the Denver Cherry Blossom Festival and Denver Greek Festival. The Colorado Latino Festival in Boulder and Unicorn Festival in Littleton also arrive this weekend. Those looking to avoid the summer heat can enjoy two major concerts inside Pepsi Center.

Denver Greek Festival

DENVER — Opa! This year marks the 54th anniversary of the Denver Greek Festival. Each year, the Denver community comes together to celebrate Greek culture with live Greek music and traditional dancing performed by dancers wearing authentic Greek costumes from various regions of Greece. Over 25 handmade Greek food items will be served at this weekend’s festival which runs Friday to Sunday at the Assumption of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 4610 E. Alameda Avenue. Have you ever wondered what’s inside Denver’s famous big gold dome? During the Greek Festival you can jump on a regularly-scheduled tour inside one of the most historic cultural landmarks of the Mile High City. The festival will also have vendors offering products from Greece including arts, sculptures, paintings, jewelry and Greek first-pressed extra virgin olive oil. Denver Cherry Blossom Festival

DENVER — Experience Japanese culture through music, dance, exhibits, arts, crafts, dance and food at the 47th annual Cherry Blossom Festival at Sakura Square on Saturday and Sunday. The only outdoor Japanese culture-focused festival in the region offers live performances that include traditional Japanese dancing, singing, instrumental music, Taiko drum ensemble performances, judo, karate and aikido demonstrations. A Japanese-themed marketplace will feature jewelry, toys, artwork, pottery, accessories, clothing and anime. Don’t forget about the cuisine including sushi, teriyaki burgers, manju, spam musubi, teriyaki chicken plate lunches and teriyaki beef bowls and sake and craft beer. The festival is located at Sakura Square between 19th and Lawrence Streets in downtown Denver. Unicorn Festival

LITTLETON  The annual Unicorn Festival in Littleton has expanded to two days this year at Clement Park. The magical event for families and cosplayers alike will take place Saturday and Sunday with unicorn corrals and photo ops, princesses, sing-a-longs, stories, castle maze, dragon slide, face painters, selfie stations, bounce castles, bungee trampolines, Little Mermaid meet-and-greet, food trucks and more. Tickets are available online at UnicornFestivalColorado.com.

Colorado Latino Festival 

BOULDER  Although program events for the 4th Annual Colorado Latino Festival began earlier in the week, the main event takes place on Sunday at Boulder’s Central Park. The festival will feature Latin music groups, food vendors, a car exhibit, hands-on activities, bouncing castles and more. Artists and vendors will be representing Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Cuba, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Chile and other Latin American countries and the U.S. The Colorado Latino Festival is free to attend and runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Strawberry Days

GLENWOOD SPRINGS — Glenwood Springs' big summer festival is back for a 122nd year. Strawberry Days will include three days of live music and main stage entertainment, interactive and creative kids’ activities, arts and crafts vendors, a food court and beer garden at Sayre Park. The Strawberry Days Parade will step off at 10 a.m. Saturday at 9th and Grand. After the parade, free fresh strawberries and ice cream will be served at Sayre Park. This weekend’s live music lineup includes 6 Million Dollar Band, Brothers Keeper, Thunk, Whiskey Stomp, Rodrigo, Umberto Fonte, Stray Grass and more.  The 42nd annual Strawberry Shortcut 5K, 10K and 1-Mile will be held before Saturday morning’s parade. FREDERICK — The Town of Frederick will celebrate the many forms of flight this weekend with a hot air balloon lift, glow party and plenty of fun for the whole family. Frederick in Flight will have balloon lifts at 6 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Centennial Park. The Frederick in Flight 5K is set for 11 a.m. Saturday. There will also be a free kids’ variety show with magic, juggling, balloon twisting and more. The 5 p.m. Glow Party on Saturday will have food trucks, beer garden, live music, Salida Circus, bounce houses, martial arts demo, kids’ activities and more.

Citizens for the River

DENVER — Citizens for the River concert and the South Platte RiverFest have combined this year for one unbelievable day along the South Platte River. The free, urban river festival runs from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Denver’s Confluence Park. There will be a river rodeo parade, stand up paddle board demos, kids’ zone, beer, food vendors, water sport vendors and riverside recreational activities. There will also be live music from Anders Osborne, Nicki Bluhm, David Burchfield & The Fire Guild, Wanderraven, and Robby Peoples. Citizens for the River will benefit the Greenway Foundation which improves the South Platte River and its tributaries.

Rocky Mountain Vibes vs. Grand Junction Rockies 

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Rocky Mountain Vibes make their home debut this weekend at UCHealth Park in Colorado Springs. The Milwaukee Brewers’ rookie league affiliate will debut their new name, new logo, new uniforms and new mascot, Toasty, in front of their home crowd for the first time on Friday at 6:40 p.m. with a Tom Petty Tribute fireworks show to follow. The Vibes will host the Grand Junction Rockies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The first 1,000 fans to Sunday’s game will get a Toasty the Mascot Bobblehead. Corey Rose Wishes & Heroes Benefit Concert 

LITTLETON — The 9th annual Corey Rose Wishes and Heroes Benefit Concert is this Saturday at Littleton’s Breckenridge Brewery. The event, which begins at 3 p.m., features a silent auction with items donated by local merchants, delicious food and beverages and live music from 9's A Pair (composed of Colorado firefighters) and Phat Daddy. The after-party continues inside Breckenridge Brewery at 7 p.m. with The Chris Dismuke Band. Proceeds from the event benefit Make-A-Wish Colorado and the Colorado Professional Firefighters Association. 9NEWS morning anchor Corey Rose started the concert fundraiser in honor of her father who passed away in 2010 from leukemia. He was a firefighter in Los Angeles, California for 32 years. Corey Rose Wishes and Heroes Benefit Concert tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Donkey Derby Days 

CRIPPLE CREEK — Cripple Creek's most popular event returns this weekend for an 88th year. People from all over the world will descend on downtown Cripple Creek, drawn by a chance to watch a race inspired by the town's resident donkey herd, believed to be distant relatives of the original donkeys used in the town's Gold Rush days. A classic melodrama begins festivities Friday night followed by a packed Saturday and Sunday full of pancake breakfasts, a petting zoo, parade, a street dance, beer gardens, food vendors, dog show, kids’ activities, donkey photo-op and donkey races. Leadville BBQ & Brew Festival

LEADVILLE — The Leadville/Lake County Chamber of Commerce will host a family-friendly BBQ festival this weekend in downtown Leadville. The two-day festival features BBQ prepared by talented pitmasters, local mirco brews and live music. A car show and performance at the Tabor Opera House will also be part of the free Friday and Saturday festival. A kids’ zone will have carnival games, kids’ BBQ cookoff, water balls and mechanical bull (for all ages).

NSRA Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals 

PUEBLO — Over 2,000 street rods, customs, muscle cars and street machines will travel to the Colorado State Fairgrounds this weekend for the 35th Annual Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals. The car show is one of the largest in Colorado - taking up almost all the space at the fairgrounds - and is a unique mix of vintage and new automobiles of every description. The event, which also features automobile venders, tasty food and beer, runs from Friday to Sunday.

MEEKER — The small town of Meeker will showcase all aspects of dance, singing, music, visual and culinary arts during the 7th annual Meekerpalooza. The festival begins Saturday at 8 a.m. with a farmers' market and Pioneers Healthcare Foundation Breakfast. COLORADO SPRINGS — The Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack is a half-mile side-by-side race and trap speed competition featuring more than two hundred of the fastest street cars in the country. Bailey Day 

BAILEY  Saturday at 10 a.m. it's officially Bailey Day. This year's festival has music on multiple stages, bounce houses, watermelon eating contest, archery, potato sack races, petting zoo, treasure hunt, water balloon toss, lumberjack competition and more. Midtown SummerFest 

FORT COLLINS — The Midtown SummerFest will run Friday to Sunday at the Guilded Goat Brewing parking lot in Fort Collins. The festival begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday with live music by Mike O’Connel Duo, a beer garden and kids’ activities. Saturday features the Rally at the Goat Car Show with cars, motorcycles, trucks and classic, plus food vendors. The free Foothills Summer Sundays Concert Series on Sunday will offer live music by King Cardinal at the east lawn of Foothills.

Alamosa Round-Up 

ALAMOSA — The 2018 Alamosa Round-UP begins Thursday with a High Noon Parade and Cattle Drive. PRCA rodeos are scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights at the Alamosa Fairgrounds. Also on Saturday is a Cowboy Church and 2nd annual Bulls and Bandits 5K. After Saturday night’s rodeo, country music stars Parmalee will headline the 1st annual Round-UP Concert. Old Colorado City WestFest 

COLORADO SPRINGS  Celebrate the westside of Colorado Springs with Westfest on Sunday at Bancroft Park. Hosted by Old Colorado City, the fest will have arts and crafts, beer, food, live music and more. Progressives Revelation will kick off the live performances at 11 a.m., followed by Talisa Caldwell, Top Banana Events Magic Show, and Sky Radio.

Scandinavian Midsummer Festival 

ESTES PARK — Estes Park welcomes summer this weekend with the annual Scandinavian Midsummer Festival. The traditional Scandinavian festival celebrates the summer solstice with fun, lively dancing, exhibits, kids' activities and more. The celebration begins Friday at 4 p.m. with the opening of the beer garden. Saturday there will be a raising of the midsummer pole and opening ceremony. Other activities planned this weekend include a large craft fair, food vendors, art exhibitors, a Scandinavian (Saab and Volvo) auto show and a Viking reenactment. The free and family-friendly festival will be held at Bond Park in downtown Estes Park though Sunday at the intersection of Elkhorn Ave. and MacGregor Avenue.

Denver Polo Classic 

LITTLETON — The Denver Polo Classic, the nation’s largest charitable polo tournament, will be held over Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Littleton’s Polo Reserve. Presented by Schomp BMW, the Denver Polo Classic is fundraiser for Denver Active 20-30 with world-class polo players and guests from across Colorado.

The Denver Deluxe 

DENVER — The 4th annual Denver Deluxe is one of RiNo’s best summer music festivals. The 2019 festival takes place Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Denver’s River North neighborhood, with entrances at 27th and Walnut and 26th and Larimer. The festival will have live music all afternoon, cold beers and warm burgers, and live art from local street and graffiti artists. BRIGHTON — Local, regional and international artists will be showcasing their best work at Brighton’s 2019 Art in the Park on Saturday. Berkeley Yoga Festival 

DENVER — Tennyson Street will be home to a three-class yoga and live sound immersion experience on Friday from 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Berkeley Yoga Festival will also offer food, drinks, local vendors, music, kids’ activities and more. Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival 

CAÑON CITY — The 11th Annual Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival combines whitewater competitions with land-based events to promote the outdoors and an active lifestyle. The festival, which will be held on Friday and Saturday, features a raft rodeo, duckie dash and BYoB races, as well as food, drinks, vendors and live music from Burning Coles, Chivalry, Mannequin the Band, Beloved Invaders, Beyond Bridges, Last Reel Hero, Adam Ashley, Dirty Word and more. RYE — The Sonic Bloom Festival runs from Thursday to Sunday at Hummingbird Ranch in Spanish Peaks Country. One of Colorado's premier electronic music festival offers shady trees, a bubbling creek and beautiful views. Dozens and dozens of artists are schedule to perform on three stages. KEYSTONE  This weekend-long celebration of bacon is back in Keystone for an 9th year. Stills in the Hills 

CENTRAL CITY — For one day in June, Central City's historic Main Street turns into one big speakeasy with dozens of Colorado craft distilleries and hundreds of varieties of spirits. Stills in the Hills runs from 1 to 6 p.m. this Saturday. Tickets are $35 online (or $45 at the gate) and allow you to sip on some one hundred spirits. The event is all ages and family-friendly as there will also be food and art vendors along the street as well as music performers playing throughout the day.

Budweiser Clydesdales 

FORT COLLINS — The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales are back in Fort Collins and will be available for public viewing from now through Sunday. The Budweiser Brewery Experience will also offer two Clydesdale Camera Days on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for visitors to take a photo with one of the “gentle giants.” You can reserve a spot on a tour of the Fort Collins brewery at BudweiserTours.com.

Highlands Ranch Music Arts Festival 

HIGHLANDS RANCH — The Highlands Ranch Music Arts Festival will bring two days of music to Civic Green Park. The whole family will love the performances from music ensembles from around the metro area and the Highlands Ranch Concert Band. There will be music, arts and crafts by local vendors, and of course, food and drinks! RAIN – A Tribute to the Beatles

DENVER — RAIN – A Tribute to the Beatles will bring the greatest hits of Abbey Road to life in celebration of the album’s anniversary, in addition to all the early Beatles favorites. The Associated Press says the mind-blowing performance takes listeners back in time with a foursome delivering a note-for-note theatrical event that is “the next best thing to seeing the Beatles.” RAIN will perform at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on Sunday with tickets sold through DenverCenter.org.

Andrea Bocelli with the Colorado Symphony

Hillsong United

Broncos Movie Night

Colorado Championship Ranch Rodeo 

HUGO — Working ranch cowboys will compete for the title of Champion at the 18th annual Colorado Championship Ranch Rodeo this weekend. The festivities begin Friday night with a team BBQ, trade show, calcutta of teams and a 6 p.m. rodeo performance. Saturday's RHAA Ranch Horse Show will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the trade show, Jeremiah Ward Memorial Open Ranch Bronc Riding, a chuck wagon cook-off and a second rodeo performance. HUGO — Partnering with the Colorado Championship Ranch Rodeo, Saturday night’s Colorado Prairie Music Festival will kick off with Colorado cowboy Christopher Thomas followed by headlining act Chancey Williams and the Younger Brothers Band. Buffs4Life Weekend 

BROOMFIELD — Non-profit organization Buffs4Life will hold its 7th Annual Kyle MacIntosh Memorial Fun Run this Sunday. This year's run will start and finish at Folsom Field with games, past and present athletes and coaches, prizes and food. The Buffs4Life Foundation raises money for families in the Buff community. Buffs4Life’s Family BBQ and Silent Auction at the Omni Interlocken Resort runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and the 14th annual Golf Tournament begins at 10 a.m. Monday. Registration for all the Buffs4Life events is now open at Buffs4Life.org.

PurpleStride Colorado 

DENVER — PurpleStride's 2019 Colorado walk will be held Sunday at Denver's Washington Park. PurpleStride walk raises funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network which aims to end pancreatic cancer. Registration on-site will begin Sunday at 7 a.m. and opening ceremonies are scheduled for 8:10 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk will get underway at 8:30 a.m. Registration is available online at PanCan.org.

Racing the River Fun 5K Run 

CAÑON CITY — The Racing for the River Fun 5K Run is part of this weekend’s 11th annual Whitewater Festival. The race is not your typical 5K race. Race organizers say there will be at least five simple, fun obstacles throughout the course. Expect to get a little wet during the 5K. A free kids’ race will follow the 5K on Saturday. Racing the River Fun 5K Run registration can be completed online.

Running Wild Race

DENVER — This weekend's Running Wild Race is a 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run to help prevent the extinction of endangered African wildlife. The event will begin at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at Regis University. Event registration and donation information can be found at RunningWildRace.org.

Mancos Cowboy Half Marathon, 5K and Fun Run 

MANCOS — The Mancos Cowboy Half Marathon, 5K and Fun Run are back for a 6th year as a fundraiser for Mancos Public Library.  The half marathon kicks off the festivities at 7 a.m. Saturday, followed by the 5K at 7:30 a.m. For race registration, visit MancosHalfMarathon.com.

Jeremy Bitner Memorial 5K/10K Run/Walk

ENGLEWOOD — The 7th annual  Jeremy Bitner Memorial 5K/10K Run and 5K Walk will be held on Saturday at Cornerstone Park. The event benefits The Jeremy Bitner Fallen Officer Fund by assisting families affected by the loss of an officer in the line-of-duty. Register today at BitnerMemorialFund.org.

Denver Superhero Heart Run 

LITTLETON — The Hudson Gardens & Event Center is the site of Sunday's Denver Superhero Heart Run. The 5th annual 5K and 2K run aims to raise awareness and funds for  Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). For race registration and donation information, visit SuperHeroHeartRun.com.

Forrest Gump  

COLORADO — Robert Zemeckis' beloved 1994 movie Forrest Gump is returning to theaters for two days in celebration of its 25th anniversary. Featuring an Oscar-winning performance from Tom Hanks, Forrest Gump will play on the big screen nationwide on Sunday and Tuesday. The film is considered to be one of the most quoted movies of all time, as well as one of the best movies of the 1990s. Garden of the Gods Trading Post 90th Anniversary 

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Garden of the Gods Trading Post is celebrating 90 years in business with a book signing and native pottery demonstration on Saturday and Sunday. Authors Pat and Kim Messier will discuss and sign their book Images of America: Garden of the Gods Trading Post from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the iconic trading post, located inside Garden of the Gods park.
