DENVER — A penthouse perched above Denver's posh Cherry Creek neighborhood hit the market Wednesday evening with an asking price of $13.8 million.

The 7,134-square-foot condo is located at 100 Detroit St. in NorthCreek, a mixed-use development that helped spur the evolution of Cherry Creek North shopping district. The project broke ground in 2005.

Philanthropists and Denver business community members Carol and John Saeman, a former board chairman of The Daniels Fund, purchased the property for $4.1 million in 2007, according to public records. Carol spent two years working with designer Dale Simon and Axiom Construction Inc. to painstakingly design the home and move all materials up to the penthouse using elevators, "unless we had a crane move it up," Carol Saeman told Denver Business Journal in an exclusive interview.
