Victim identified who was fatally shot in Edgewater on Sunday

A 29-year-old man died in the shooting in an apartment in the 2700 block of Ingalls Street, Edgewater Police said.

EDGEWATER, Colo. — Edgewater Police on Wednesday identified a man who was fatally shot after an altercation on Sunday morning.

Police said officers responded around 5:18 a.m. to reports of a disturbance in the 2700 block of Ingalls Avenue, which is northwest of downtown Denver.

Officers were directed to a second-story apartment unit where they found a 29-year-old man with at least one gunshot wound. The initial investigation shows the shooting happened after an altercation between people known to each other in the apartment, according to police.

Medical personnel attended to the victim, but he was pronounced dead. On Wednesday, police identified him as Miguel Angel Barboza.

A second person with head trauma was taken to the hospital. That person, 29-year-old Kyle Damien Valdez, was booked on Wednesday into the Jefferson County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
