Aurora family offers reward after 6-year-old injured in hit-and-run

Navy King was getting off an RTD bus with her aunt when she crossed the street and was hit, police said.

AURORA, Colo. — A 6-year-old girl is out of the hospital and back home after a pickup truck driver hit her Friday in a neighborhood just west of Buckley Space Force Base.

Navy King was getting off an RTD bus with her aunt near South Uravan Street and East Carolina Place when she crossed the street and was hit, police said. They said the driver of the truck left the scene.

“Whoever’s out there, you hit a child and you kept going,” said Frankie Green, Navy’s great-great uncle. “It’s a life. It’s a person. Whoever you are, you should have the kindness and decency to turn yourself in.”

Navy is asking for the same thing.

“I want them to go to jail,” she said.

Marva Briggs, Navy’s grandmother, said her granddaughter is in immense pain, suffering from road rash on her face and body.

“The goal now moving forward is to make sure that Nina heals properly,” Briggs said.

“I love that they all love me, and I love that they all take care of me,” Navy said. “They protect me from the bad guys.”

Police don’t have much information about the suspect or the vehicle they were driving. They do know it was a dark-colored pickup truck. It was described to officers as being "all blacked out."

Green is now offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help with expenses.
