CONEJOS COUNTY, Colo. — Sheriff's deputies have arrested a babysitter in connection with the death of a 23-month-year-old girl in southern Colorado.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said in a release Friday that the Conejos County Sheriff's Office began to investigate after the child was taken to the hospital on Jan. 31 with life-threatening injuries. She later died.
CBI said the child was in the care of babysitter Denise Cordova, 47, at the time of the incident. Details about the incident have not been released.
Cordova was taken into custody on Friday. It's not clear what charges she faces.
CBI said it was asked to assist the Conejos County Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
