PARKER, Colo. — The Parker Police Department said it is investigating a murder-suicide after two men were found dead with gunshot wounds Tuesday near a hotel and a restaurant.
Police responded to the scene at 12:47 p.m. near the Parker Holiday Inn and Saltgrass Steak House, located along Cottonwood Drive. That's in the area of E-470 and South Parker Road.
The two men were found outside. One was pronounced dead on scene, while the other was taken to a hospital and declared deceased, police said.
Police said the two men were the only ones involved in the shooting and one gun was found at the scene. Josh Hans with the Parker Police Department said it's not clear what led to the shooting.
“We do not have a lot of violent crime here," Hans said. "So anytime we get a call for shots fired or when someone’s life is tragically taken, it does take us all by surprise because that’s not what we expect. It’s not what Parker residents expect. So yes, it’s surprising when something like this happens.”
Police said it's early in the investigation and they are still gathering facts.
Sky9 flew over the scene, which appeared to be in the parking lot near the hotel, surrounded by crime scene tape.
