Man pleads guilty in connection with girlfriend's death

NORTHGLENN, Colo — A man who fatally shot his girlfriend in Northglenn more than a year ago pleaded guilty May 15 and was granted a deferred sentence - meaning if he completes the conditions of his probation, his record will be expunged.

According to court records, Alexander Moreno-Keegan pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide in Adams County District Court and was given four years of probation as part of the deferred judgment.

As a condition of the sentence, Moreno-Keegan is required to relinquish his firearm.

According to an arrest affidavit from the Northglenn Police Department, Moreno-Keegan called 911 on Jan. 9, 2023 and reported the shooting around 6:55 p.m.

Moreno-Keegan said that he had been dating the victim for eight years and they had invited a friend over to their place that evening for a "show and tell" with their guns. He said that all three of them were security guards.

He said at one point he picked up his gun from a table and accidentally pressed the trigger and shot his girlfriend. Their friend shared a similar story about what happened.
