Multiple schools in Lakewood put on lockdown after reported menacing incident

The incident did not happen on school grounds, but Green Mountain High School and Dunstan Middle School were put on precautionary lockdown.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Lakewood Police have made an arrest in connection with an incident that led to a precautionary lockdown at two nearby schools Friday.

Police said at 10:39 a.m. that officers were investigating a report of felony menacing on a road near Green Mountain High School.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported, police said. 

The incident did not happen on school grounds, but the high school and Dunstan Middle School were put on precautionary lockdown, according to police. 

At 6:30 p.m., police tweeted that a male juvenile had been arrested and that the weapon he was carrying was an airsoft gun. 

Police said they will not be releasing any additional information because of the age of the suspect. 

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
