Commentary: Colorado football stars should play wherever they get drafted

Deion 'Coach Prime' Sanders said on a podcast there are certain NFL teams he would want Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter to play for, despite draft results.

DENVER — This past week, Deion 'Coach Prime' Sanders was on the "Million Dollaz Worth of Game" podcast and said his son, and star quarterback, Sheduer — as well as star cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter will decide where they go in the 2025 NFL draft.

"I know where I want them to go. It's going to be an Eli," he said.

The Eli Manning reference goes back to when he was drafted by the Chargers in 2004, but then refused to play for them so he was traded to the Giants.

I have no problem with Coach Prime saying that he prefers his guys to play in certain spots. That's fine. He can have opinions as a coach and a father!

But if Sheduer or Travis were to actually refuse to play somewhere? I don't think that's right.

I think it would be a bad look for Sheduer to act that way. He's a good kid and such a talent, you don't want a narrative that he's running away from something.

If he's drafted by an awful franchise like the Browns or the Panthers, I would actually want him to go there — turn that franchise around! Be the star that gets immortalized in that city.

Deion says he doesn't want Shedeur or Travis playing in cold cities. Well, I say go to New England and carry them out of the funk they've been in since Tom Brady left.

I am all for players getting what they want in this new player empowerment era, but only to a certain point. If you're drafted by a team, just go there and put in the work. Take on the challenge and the uncomfortability, don't run from it.
