DENVER — A Denver bar and restaurant has closed its doors after more than two years in business.

Stoney's Cantina announced it closed its South Broadway business the first weekend of December.

The closure does not affect Stoney's other bar and grill locations at 11th and Lincoln in Denver, on 17th Avenue in Denver's Uptown neighborhood, and its tavern in Winter Park.

"It is sad to say, but this will be Stoney’s Cantina’s last weekend open," Stoney's Cantina posted on Instagram on Nov. 30. "Thank you for all of your support throughout these last couple of years. Come hangout and enjoy our last weekend with you all!!"

Stoney's Cantina opened at South Broadway and East Ellsworth Avenue in May 2021.

Other Denver restaurants that were closed this year include Blake Street Tavern, Denver Ted's Cheesesteaks, and Piccolo.

Denver sports bar Blake Street Tavern permanently closed its doors in early April. The tavern, which opened in 2003, had been a favorite near Coors Field near downtown Denver in the Five Points neighborhood.

Denver Ted's Cheesesteaks, located at 21st Street and Lawrence Street in downtown Denver, announced it closed in April.

Italian and Mexican restaurant Piccolo closed at the end of April after 50 years of operation in southeast Denver, on South Monaco Parkway, near Interstate 25 and Hampden Avenue.

Several restaurants on the 16th Street Mall in Denver have also closed this year including Corner Bakery Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe, McDonald's and Starbucks. Hard Rock Cafe closed in July after 25 years at the Denver Pavilions shopping center.
